Hebrews 4:7b
"Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts."
4:10-13
"Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."
how hard is it to enter that rest! when work piles up over your head and you're rushing to meet deadlines.. sometimes even running ahead of yourself. running faster than you should be.
its easier to be "martha" than "mary."
but jesus said to martha, "Martha, martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but only 1 thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken away from her."
ive been "martha" for several weeks now.. due to school and ministry commitments. mainly school.. it was awful. ther was this deep yearning deep within me to stop and sit at His feet, to rest, to listen. and everytime i went for alpha or cell or vineyard, there's this heart wrenching- wanna cry kinda feeling. But.. BUT.. i always said BUT... i cant stop, theres just too much work, i cant afford to fall behind. or so i think.
the truth is, we can all stop, if we want. it's a choice- just as many many other important things in life, which we think we dont have a choice over. we actually do.
its not bad to work, to many of us it is a commitment and a responsibility to God. but sometimes its better to find that rest. i cant better describe how i feel so strongly about finding time to stop and rest! and to actively pursue the God whom we belong to!
so here's a new song i recently was introduced to.
Paul Baloche's Here & Now.
Here and now
Here in this moment
here and now
i turn to you
All that my searching heart has longed for, can be found
cause you're in this moment
Here and Now.
what majesty! what mystery!
the God of all eternity
stepped into time and gave His life for me
Your hand has seen in galaxies
yet your spirit dwells in me
so vast and yet
you're still within our reach
