Beginings

Singapore>>>>>>>Glasgow
I've been in the city of brown and drinking for the past 4 days, and I'm starting to like it. or rather i told myself i'm going to be here for the next 5 years, might as well love it, yeah?

there are so many differences between singapore and Glasgow, such as
1)the drinking culture-beer is cheaper than water, and people drink everyday.hard liquor, wine, beer etc. bars open in the afternoon and it is a norm for people to go to pubs at 12pm.union parties going on every night-i havent been to one. dun think i will anytime soon. and yeah, ive heard of many drunkard stories.ewww really.....

2)weather- duh. rainy, lotsa wind, little sunshine. i always rejoice when theres sun. Thank God it was sunny half of the time (2 days) i was here.=)

3)people-friendly. real friendly. but as usual, some are authentic, some are jst doing it for the sake of doing so. that's people i guess.

and i think lots more to come, ill find out as time goes by.
But whatever it is, I think there are lots to learn about this new place and its people. I would not compare and complain about either my home or Glasgow, because there are good points to each. i love singapore because its my HOME-where my heart is.

one thing good about the scotts-they do not overrate professions like medicine, law and engineering. Its like "oh, medicine? okay."-its no big deal know..I know many people who are so passionate about things like History of Art, English Literature, Italian, Architecture...and they go all the way out to pursue their dreams.Im sure they will do well, moreover their society welcomes it.I think it's real nice to be in a place where people do whatever they like and are respected for it.

Oh, and i forgot to add, Glasgow is real cosmopolitan. U'll see lots of international student-Germans, Greeks, French, Arabs, a sizable number of PRCs, HongKong-ers, Indians. yeah. its very welcoming of foreigners. i do not feel that out of place when i walk along the streets.

Anyway, Im settling down well. been exploring the place quite a lot. walking in the town, around my neighbourhood, shopping at aupermarkets etc. hehe Its quite hard to be indepedent at first-buying groceries, keeping accounts of stuff i bought, laundry. yeay. But think it will be good for me.

My roommate is Imogen. She's from Cambridge and she's doing english literature. Seems quite nice so far, hope we will get along better as time goes by. She has lotsa records, loves Indie and Techno music. Im listening to them everyday~

School will start next wednesday. Im so looking forward to it=)can't wait to know my PBL (problem-based learning) groupmates and the cirriculum and all!wish me luck!

Ill update once school starts, will upload nicer and more interesting photos.Miising home>>>will think of YAM and FL even as i visit a new church this sunday. do pray for me and i will for you too.
